"Battery Park, NYC. More than 100,000 wild roses will bloom each year in this garden created by the people of the City of New York and children from countries around the world. Located between the Old Customs House and Castle Clinton, where the ferry leaves for the Statue of Liberty. The Hope Garden is a collaborative effort of The Tamarand Foundation, the Parks Department, the Council on the Environment of New York City, the Department of Health, the Greening of Harlem Coalition, and the United Nations International School. Sponsors include: the Louis & Anne Abrons Foundation, the Robert Mapplethorpe Foundation, Manhattan Cable Television, Consolidated Edison. Dedication ceremony: Thursday, May 14, 1992 -- 10:00 AM. Subway to South Ferry or Bowling Green, walk to Castle Clinton. To dedicate a rosebush, call (212) 864-4245 (weekdays 10-6). Parks & Recreation. David N. Dinkins, Mayor, Betsy Gotbaum, Commissioner.
