The materials in this collection present many opportunities for study and classroom use. University of Rochester students and faculty are encouraged to contact us in order to arrange for classroom presentations of the original physical materials, or to coordinate independent study and internship opportunities. Researchers, teachers, and others are encouraged to contact us with questions about the collection and how it can be included in teaching, learning, and creative projects. The work of University of Rochester graduate and undergraduate students has been an integral part of many Rare Books and Special Collections digital projects; the first contribution to the AIDS Education Collection is an essay by Alexander Brier Marr (UR Visual and Cultural Studies PhD student): Introduction to the AIDS Education Poster Collection at the University of Rochester Department of Rare Books, Special Collections, & Preservation.

In conjunction with the upcoming major collaborative exhibition, Up Against the Wall: Art, Activism, and the AIDS Poster, which opens on March 6, 2022 at the Memorial Art Gallery, University of Rochester, we are developing an interdisciplinary curriculum guide which will serve both high school and undergradate learners, as well as lifelong learners from a variety of disciplines. The curriculum guide will be made accessible as part of this AEP website, and will take advantage of the over 8000 posters (and growing!) on the website. Please visit us often as we add new materials to the site. Thank you!
