Title from prospectus. ; Altered book by Poppy Dully. Signed and dated by the artist on back paste-down. ; I found an 1956 Harper's Modern classic edition of Daisy Miller by Henry James which was first published in 1878. The 1974 film adaptation was directed by Peter Bogdanovich in 1974 with actor Cybil Shepherd. Daisy Miller is a coming of age portrait of 'the American girl' of the late 19th century. James portrayed her as the emancipated woman of her day ... using the film as my guide, I created 8 monotypes which briefly tell the story in the novella. I printed the monotypes with oil-based ink on the book pages. The monotype pages are glued on accordian folds and mounted to the original book cover--Prospectus.

This altered book of Daisy Miller includes ink illustrations printed across the text of the novella, depicting scenes inspired from the text and movie.
