Sixteen barbs to the back
-
Description
-
The hinged wooden box contains paint, acrylic media, paperclay, bamboo skewers, and archival photo paper.
-
The box contains sixteen barbs attached to the lid and facing towards the interior of the box. In the box is a paper cut-out of a woman, with her back towards the barbs. A long red thread emerges from her back. She is facing a clear barrier where a Spanish poem has been inscribed. The note from the artist indicates that this box is about the loss of a friendship and is part of a series of work that positions people as ghost ships - vessels adrift, as impermanent, transient.
