To develop this River Campus for the College on the grounds of the Oak Hill Country Club, if the proposed citizen’s committee would secure the necessary funds therefor. Owing to the many memories and traditions which center in the Old Campus the Trustees decided to retain that property as a home for the College for Women.
Accordingly, in 1922, a committee of citizens under the chairmanship of Mr. Todd was organized to prepare for and conduct a solicitation for ten million dollars for the development of this River Campus. That committee consisted of six hundred thirty-five citizens of Rochester, and, cooperation with if were the organizations of Alumni and Alumnae of the University. The success of their undertaking was insured by the response of over thirteen thousand givers to their appeal in November 1924.
