Professor Slater and Eastman School of Music director Howard Hanson were commissioned to create a piece of music to be performed at the Centennial Convocation by the Eastman-Rochester Symphony Orchestra, the Eastman School of Music Chorus, with soloist David Meyers and narrator Leonard Treash.
Many copies of the album exist, but it is rarely performed.
